This job is no longer accepting applications.

Looking for MECHANICAL ENGINEERS with strong CATIA experience to join the Tesla Chassis team in Palo Alto, CA.

This position will start off as a 6-month contract and is 100% onsite.

Please apply ASAP if interested. (one step interview process, looking to have candidates start immediately)

THE ROLE The engineer's responsibilities include design, analysis, sourcing, prototyping, testing, vehicle assembly validation, quality control, engineering documentation, and more. The engineer should be able to readily apply mechanical engineering fundamentals to creatively solve problems and learn quickly while managing their projects independently. We are looking for someone who will go beyond the status quo to make the best product in terms of cost, mass, and performance. The engineer should be able to communicate clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical colleagues. Hands-on experience is a major plus for engineering development work and addressing production issues. Experience with electromechanical systems is a plus. Some travel to suppliers may be required, including international travel.

RESPONSIBILITIES The engineer will work with Tesla teams and component suppliers in order to: - Develop and optimize designs in 3D CAD software with associated CAE tools - Validate manufacturing, assembly, and service feasibility - Complete and release component designs and documentation, including 2D drawings - Validate components per defined engineering requirements - Resolve issues and concerns with cross-functional teams including engineering, firmware, supply chain, production, and service - Participate in the sourcing process and manage engineering relationships with suppliers - Deliver to defined schedules Skills: injection mold, Catia V5, Catia, Design Top Skills Details: injection mold,Catia V5,Catia,Design

Additional Skills & Qualifications: - Must-haves (either on resume or confirmed verbally):

  • All items listed in job description attached o Demonstrated attention to detail and organized approach to assignments/problem sets
  • Demonstrated CAD 3D/2D proficiency with Catia V5 or V6 (needs to have used it during internship or prior work, not just in college. Let me know if this reduces the pool of applicants too much and we can re-evaluate later)
  • Experience taking personal design concept and working with manufacturing teams and/or separate manufacturing suppliers to reach volume production stage. This would mean the person is not just a "CAD Designer" as sometimes identified: they would also have experience outside of using CAD tools.

Nice-to-haves: Experience in automotive, off-road vehicle, motorcycle, bicycle component design and manufacturing o Personal hobbies/interests involving hands-on work with mechanical systems (car/motorcycle/bike projects, metal fabrication, home projects, etc.)
